Poston leads Memorial after 65 in windy conditions
J.T. Poston shot 7-under 65 at Muirfield Village to take a one-shot lead after two rounds. He finished at 9-under 135, nine shots better than the field average.

J.T. Poston posted eight birdies in a round of 7-under 65 at the Memorial Tournament, moving to 9-under 135 and a one-shot lead over Ryan Gerard. The round came on a day when wind made Muirfield Village noticeably harder. Poston said he switched last week to a Titleist left-dash ball designed to hold its line better in gusts.
Wind tests field Most players found the conditions difficult.
Justin Thomas called the round the hardest he could remember, major or non-major, after making a long par putt on the 18th to stay in the tournament. Tommy Fleetwood described the day as brutal when asked about conditions. Poston said the new ball performed well on shots that were not struck perfectly.
Putting separates leader Poston gained four shots on the field in the strokes-gained putting category. He needed only 24 putts, covering 134 feet in total distance. Only two of his eight birdie putts were inside 10 feet. He credited both the ball and the putter for the result.
