Preliminary Hearing for Charlie Kirk Shooting Suspect Scheduled to Begin Monday

Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old man accused of killing Charlie Kirk, is scheduled to appear Monday in Provo, Utah, for a preliminary hearing expected to last five days before Judge Tony Graf. The hearing will examine whether prosecutors can establish probable cause that Robinson shot Kirk from long range during a September 10, 2025, event at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Prosecutors intend to present graphic videos of the shooting, autopsy evidence, and messages in which Robinson allegedly confessed to his former roommate Lance Twiggs, 22.

They also plan to introduce a recorded interview Twiggs gave on April 20 under limited immunity. Robinson will arrive at court in an armored vehicle. He has not entered a plea. If convicted, he could face the death penalty under Utah law.

Erika Kirk, the victim's widow, along with other family members and close friends, is set to attend the hearing. Both sides have agreed to provide advance notice before graphic evidence is presented so attendees can decide whether to remain in the courtroom.
