Prosecutors played a recorded interview with Tyler Robinson's former roommate during a Utah court hearing on aggravated murder charges. The interview described Robinson's statements after the September 2025 shooting of Charlie Kirk.
news.sky.comA Utah court heard testimony this week that Tyler Robinson, 23, told his former roommate he wished he had not killed Charlie Kirk. Prosecutors played portions of an April 2026 recorded interview with Lance Twiggs, Robinson's ex-roommate and romantic partner, during the preliminary hearing on aggravated murder and other charges. Twiggs said Robinson left their St.
George apartment around 04:00 on the day of the shooting. After the shooting, Robinson texted Twiggs to check under his keyboard and left a note addressed to Twiggs as "Luna" that read: "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it. " Robinson also texted that he had "had enough of his hatred" and left his rifle in bushes near the scene.
Twiggs told investigators that the next day Robinson confirmed the shooting in person, began crying, and said he wished he had not done it. Robinson arrived at the Washington County Sheriff's Office around 21:00 on 11 September 2025, accompanied by his parents and a family friend, to turn himself in.
Prosecutors also presented a bolt-action rifle as the alleged murder weapon along with engraved bullets recovered at the crime scene and at Robinson's residence.
Inscriptions included "If you read this, you are gay" and "Fascist! " A cartridge marked "Test Shot" was found at the apartment. An FBI report stated that DNA belonging to Robinson and Twiggs was found on a rifle, screwdriver and towel recovered at the scene.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot once in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on 10 September 2025 and was pronounced dead in hospital. Robinson has not yet entered a plea. The hearing is determining whether there is sufficient evidence for trial.
