President Trump delivered three speeches across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington, D.C., between July 1 and July 4 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The first address took place July 1 at the dedication of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota.

The second followed July 3 at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota.

Trump credited himself with protecting the Second Amendment and said the stock market had reached record levels. " He also warned of what he called "a resurgence of the communist menace in our land" and referred to certain Democratic candidates as communists.

Officials redirected tens of millions of dollars to Event Strategies to organize events in the capital. Historians noted that the shift produced a more centralized celebration focused on the president's attendance.

At the 1976 bicentennial, President Gerald Ford spoke at Independence Hall and avoided partisan references. He asked whether institutions were working as intended and whether rights remained secure. At the 1926 sesquicentennial, President Calvin Coolidge returned to Philadelphia and emphasized the Declaration and Constitution as sources of solace amid partisan conflict.

Trump repeated assertions that the 2020 election was rigged and said he had rebuilt the military in his first term. Organizers stated the July 4 fireworks display would be the largest in U.S. history.
