President Trump spoke at Mount Rushmore National Memorial in Keystone, South Dakota, on July 3, 2026. The event marked the start of America's 250th anniversary celebrations. The president said American identity faces pressure from communist ideals. He stated that newcomers to the country sometimes hold views opposed to American traditions.

"There is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land, including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life and our great success," the president said.

Trump said Republicans could win the midterm elections by ending the filibuster and passing the SAVE America Act. The proposed law would require proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration and photo identification at polls. "You can be a communist, or you can be a patriot.

You cannot be both," the president said. "You do not have to be born here, but you do have to love what we have built, you must love our country," he added. "As we march into our 250th year, incredible, beautiful year it will be, we must never forget: There is no American freedom without American culture, and there is no American founding without the American people," the president said.
