President Trump praises Dell founder at Trump Accounts launch event

President Trump told Americans to "go out and buy a Dell computer" during a Monday launch event for Trump Accounts, a program offering tax-advantaged investment accounts for children. The remarks came after the president rang the opening bell for Wall Street trading.

Program details The government has deposited the first $1,000 into more than 500,000 Trump Accounts for babies born between 2025 and 2028. Companies may make additional contributions to the accounts. Michael Dell, whose estimated $210 billion fortune ranks him fifth on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, described the program as giving children a stake in American capitalism.

He wrote on X that the accounts would support education, home purchases, business formation, and wealth building.

Event participants The White House event included executives from several financial firms that have pledged to match the government's $1,000 contribution for eligible employees' children. Attendees also heard from officials overseeing securities regulation and exchange operations.

One foundation leader at the event said the accounts would extend the American dream to more people. Two technology executives separately announced plans to contribute company stock or cash to the accounts for millions of children.
