President Trump Scheduled for Physical Exam at Walter Reed

A CNN medical analyst said Tuesday that the White House has questions to answer about President Trump's health, including an explanation for why the president appears to struggle to stay awake during the day. Dr. Jonathan Reiner told CNN's Kate Bolduan that there have been a series of visible health concerns in recent months.

He cited instances where the president fell asleep in the Oval Office and during Memorial Day observances at Arlington National Cemetery.

Reiner described the sleepiness as severe daytime somnolence, an uncontrollable urge to nod off during work hours. He also noted bruising on the president's hands and swelling of his ankles, which the White House attributed to handshaking and venous insufficiency.

The White House has described the president as being in excellent overall health. President Trump stated earlier this month that he feels the same as he did 50 years ago and is not a senior.

President Trump was scheduled for a physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday. The White House described the exam as a routine dental and medical assessment. This marks the president's third exam in just over a year. A CT scan performed in December has not been fully explained by the administration.

A separate CNN report noted that threats to the president's life serve as reminders of his mortality, a claim the White House dismissed.
