Prime Minister Nominee Han Seong-sook Holds Lunch Meeting with Youth Officials on Housing and Jobs

Prime Minister nominee Han Seong-sook met young officials and interns at the prime minister's office in Seoul on June 12, 2026, to hear their concerns about housing prices and job prospects. The lunch meeting was arranged after President Lee Jae Myung nominated Han, the minister for SMEs and startups, for prime minister earlier in the week.

Yonhap reported that the session was intended to help shape policy for youths.

Han said during the meeting that listening directly to young people's views and reflecting them in policy is the most important part of the process. She added that if confirmed she would communicate with youths more often. Participants raised issues including rising housing prices and difficulties finding jobs.

Yonhap reported that Han asked attendees to speak freely about what the government could do to improve their lives. Her nomination requires parliamentary approval. Yonhap reported that the ruling Democratic Party holds a majority in the National Assembly, which is expected to ease passage.
