Prince George to Attend Eton College Starting in September
Kensington Palace announced that Prince George will begin boarding at Eton College in September after finishing at Lambrook School. The 12-year-old will turn 13 next month and follow the path taken by his father, the Prince of Wales.
BBC NewsKensington Palace announced that Prince George will attend Eton College beginning in September. The move ends speculation about his next school after he finishes at Lambrook School in Berkshire, where he has studied alongside his siblings.
College is a private boarding school for boys founded in the 15th century. Annual fees are around £63,000, and pupils begin at age 13. Prince George will live in one of the school's 25 boarding houses, each housing about 55 boys under the supervision of residential staff.
Wales also attended Eton.
Prince George's uncle and great-uncle studied there as well. His mother attended Marlborough College, which had been mentioned as a possible option.
The announcement comes after Prince George was seen with his family at the Trooping the Colour ceremony over the weekend. A school guide editor noted that Eton offers modern facilities despite its historic buildings and said the choice prepares him for life as a working royal.
“Prince George, however, faces a very particular future and his parents, with an unrivalled choice of schools available to them, have decided that an Eton education represents the best preparation for life as a modern working royal.”
