Prince Harry appeared at the Time100 Sports Gala in New York City on July 16 and told guests that King Charles is doing great, GB News reported. The 77-year-old monarch has been undergoing treatment for cancer since early 2024. Last December the King announced that his treatment schedule would be scaled back in 2026 due to early detection.
Harry also stated that Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are happy to be back at their Montecito residence. He added that the children are growing like weeds. Archie is seven and Lilibet is five.
The appearance marked Harry's first public outing since the Sussexes gathered with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House on July 10. That meeting was the first time the King had spent time with his grandchildren since 2022. Harry initially traveled to Britain alone after being refused taxpayer-funded security arrangements, and Meghan and the children joined him but made no public appearances.
On stage Harry spoke about the Invictus Games, which he established in 2014. He said sport is medicine and that its ultimate power brings people back to themselves long after medals are won and crowds have gone home. Earlier on the red carpet he expressed disappointment over England's 2-1 defeat to Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals.
Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated his family to California. He remains on difficult terms with Prince William, GB News reported.
