Catherine posted on Instagram that the Royal Marsden holds great meaning for her and that its care is life-changing. During the climb of Ben Nevis she met 11-year-old Ted Haslam from Sutton Coldfield, who was being carried up the mountain by 15 friends and family members. Catherine asked about his lucky mascot for the Molly Olly charity and told him she was impressed he had reached the second peak. GB News reported she later made a private donation of between £1,000 and £2,000 to his JustGiving page.
Ted Haslam has raised more than £13,000 for Molly Olly's Wishes, which supports children with terminal and life-threatening conditions. He told ITV the meeting was one of the most memorable things of his life. The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity set up a dedicated fundraising page for donations linked to the challenge.
James Middleton posted a photograph of his sister after she finished, adding a mountain emoji and a heart. Catherine wrote to Ted Haslam that meeting inspiring people like him was one of the real highlights of the challenge and congratulated his team for raising money for the cause.
