Professor Choi Kee-young Named Chair of Aviation Accident Board
A U.S.-educated aerospace engineering professor has been appointed chairperson of South Korea's Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board. Professor Choi Kee-young of Inha University will lead the 11-member panel for three years. He pledged to expedite the investigation into the 2024 Jeju Air crash.

Professor Choi Kee-young of Inha University was named chairperson of the Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board on Monday. Yonhap reported that Choi will lead the 11-member board for a three-year term. A Seoul National University graduate, he earned a doctoral degree in aerospace engineering from Stanford University.
Three non-standing members were also appointed to the board as of last Friday. Choi said he will move quickly on the investigation into the 2024 Jeju Air plane crash, strengthen the independence and fairness of probes, and raise the credibility of the aviation and railway accident investigation system. The Prime Minister's Office provided a photo of the new chairperson.
