Progressive Insurance Secures Jersey Patch Sponsorship for Cleveland WNBA Team

Progressive Insurance will serve as the jersey patch sponsor for Cleveland's WNBA expansion team, which begins play in May 2028. The agreement gives the insurer both available patch locations on the uniform. The team announced the sponsorship Tuesday.

Teams may sell a patch on the upper left corner and a larger placement under the front numbers. This is the first time one sponsor has purchased both spots.

Cleveland received an expansion franchise on June 30, 2025. The city previously hosted the Cleveland Rockers, an original WNBA team that operated from 1997 until folding in 2003. Over the past year, the franchise has recorded 9,000 season-ticket deposits. Officials said they accelerated planning after community interest prompted earlier engagement.

Progressive, headquartered in suburban Mayfield Heights, Ohio, maintains a naming-rights agreement for Cleveland's baseball stadium that began in 2008. The company also holds a smaller partnership with the Chicago WNBA team. Mari Pumarejo, Progressive's chief marketing officer, said the Cleveland arrangement aligns with the company's values and supports women's sports and the local community.

Allison Howard, the team's president of business operations, stated the franchise conducted a listening tour to gather input on operations and fan experience. The team name is expected within the next couple of months, with additional sponsorship announcements planned over the next year.
