Project B Names Landry Fields Head of Men's Basketball as Women's Circuit Begins

Project B named former Atlanta Hawks general manager Landry Fields as head of men's basketball, the league announced Thursday morning. Fields will oversee men's player recruitment and team operations while working closely with chief basketball officer Alana Beard. Beard, the No.
2 pick in the 2004 WNBA draft, said in a league statement that Fields understands the game from every angle. She added that he has been a player, built teams, and knows culture does not happen by accident. The league has already begun rolling out its women's circuit.
About a dozen players have committed, including Dallas Wings rookie Azzi Fudd, former WNBA MVP Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, Jonquel Jones, Jewell Loyd and Seattle Storm rookie Awa Fam. Project B will field six teams of 11 players each and plans to barnstorm across Europe and Asia, with Valencia, Spain, and Tokyo announced as host cities.
The men's and women's circuits will run together from January to April, with the league set to debut early next year.
Fields played five seasons in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Toronto. He took a scouting role with San Antonio in 2016, joined the Hawks as assistant general manager in 2020 and served as Atlanta's general manager from 2022 to 2025. Fields said in a league statement that the ambition of Project B drew him in.
He noted that the league has gathered top athletes and said he has known Ogwumike since Stanford. Fields added that he is excited to work with players to shape the game's future.
