Prosecution seeks subpoena for vice president's chief of staff in impeachment trial

Background on the chief of staff's detention The chief of staff was detained at the House of Representatives in November 2024 after being cited in contempt during a House good government committee inquiry into alleged misuse of funds. The vice president visited the House on November 23, 2024, locked herself in an office, and held a virtual press conference in which she threatened the life of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
and his family. The vice president's outburst followed a House order to transfer the chief of staff to the Women's Correctional Facility in Mandaluyong City. The chief of staff was scheduled to give an unauthorized press conference from the detention cell but suffered an anxiety attack, after which the vice president took over.
