Protesters attacked police officers Tuesday at the Southampton location where 18-year-old student Henry Nowak was stabbed in December 2025. The demonstration followed the sentencing of Nowak’s killer and the public release of body-cam footage that showed officers handcuffing the victim as he lay dying from his wounds.

The footage also recorded the attacker falsely claiming that Nowak had committed a racist assault.

Police had placed the handcuffs on Nowak while he remained on the ground with stab injuries. Tommy Robinson addressed the crowd that gathered at the site. Many participants carried Union Jack and England flags during the gathering.

British police encountered national backlash on Tuesday tied to the case. The backlash centered on the decision to restrain the dying student and on the subsequent public reaction to the video. Outrage in Britain increased after the footage circulated showing the handcuffing of the stabbing victim.

Multiple outlets reported the sequence of events that began with the December 2025 attack and continued through Tuesday’s sentencing and protest.
