Publix Recalls GreenWise Organic Blueberries After Possible E. coli Contamination

Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. initiated a recall of GreenWise Organic IQF Blueberries sold at Publix after possible E. coli contamination; the FDA published the notice. @Independent reported that the Chile-based supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A.
Issued the recall on Friday. The Food and Drug Administration published the announcement. The affected product is the 10-ounce bag with best-by date February 9, 2028 and lot code 60401. The company stated the blueberries may be contaminated with E. Coli.
Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. Some infections can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome, which risks kidney failure or death, particularly for young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
“At least 12 confirmed cases of stomach illness linked to E. coli were reported by customers between May 11 and June 5,” the announcement said. “After receiving reports of consumers experiencing digestive illnesses and having consumed GreenWise frozen blueberries as part of their diet, Frutas y Hortalizas S.A.
Customers should throw away the product or return it for a full refund. Questions can be directed to 336-899-5612 or Info.foodsafety@comfrut.com. Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. said it is investigating the source of the contamination and working with regulators.
