Puka Nacua Addresses Civil Lawsuit Alleging Antisemitic Remark and Assault
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua addressed a civil lawsuit filed against him in March for the first time on May 28, 2026. He expressed gratitude for organizational support while declining to discuss specifics of the allegations.
larrybrownsports.comLos Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua spoke publicly for the first time since a civil lawsuit was filed against him in March, stating he is grateful for support from the organization. The lawsuit, filed by a woman in Los Angeles, alleges that Nacua made an unprovoked antisemitic statement and bit the plaintiff on the shoulder.
The complaint cites gender violence, assault and battery, and negligence.
Nacua declined to address specifics about the lawsuit, calling it an ongoing legal battle. His attorney Levi McCathern said in March that Nacua denies the allegations in the strongest possible terms. When asked about the allegations, Nacua said it was a moment for him to learn from situations he was putting himself in and to have awareness of how he is conducting himself in and out of the football field.
He said he has been grateful for support from the organization and teammates, including people reaching out during the offseason. Nacua said he has learned it is OK to ask for support and to recognize the platform he has as a professional football player. He said part of that support is taking part in therapy.
Nacua spent time in rehab this spring. He said there have been a lot of good things in the midst of challenging things and it has been a great improvement in his life. In December, Nacua issued a statement apologizing for performing a gesture on an internet livestream that was antisemitic in nature.
He made the gesture with two internet streamers who suggested he perform it as part of his next touchdown celebration. Nacua said at the time he had no idea of the nature of the gesture. Rams coach Sean McVay said he has appreciated Nacua's ability to let him in.
McVay said it is cool to see the direction Nacua is on and that the team will have their arm around him and continue to support him. Nacua was a fifth-round pick in 2023. He is entering the final season of his rookie contract in 2026 and is eligible to sign a contract extension.
In March, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba signed a contract extension that made him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history. Nacua said he hasn't really thought about playing without a contract extension in 2026. Nacua said his job is to be with the guys, compete every single day, and that has been his mindset.
He said if he can continue to improve as a person, the coaches and people around him are helping him improve as a football player.
