CnbcQualcomm announced Wednesday that it is acquiring AI infrastructure startup Modular to expand its artificial intelligence software capabilities. Cnbc reported the move positions the company more strongly in the inference market and supports more efficient AI operations for customers.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said in a release that the company believes the future belongs to developer-friendly, horizontal platforms that can run across diverse compute environments and give customers real choice in how and where they deploy AI.
The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2026. Qualcomm did not disclose financial terms. Bloomberg reported the transaction was valued at nearly $4 billion, while Reuters calculations placed the figure at $3.92 billion.
