Queen Camilla Visits Heywood Hill Bookshop on 90th Anniversary

Queen Camilla visited Heywood Hill bookshop in Mayfair on Tuesday as the independent store marked its 90th anniversary, GB News reported. The Queen, who serves as patron of numerous literary organisations, took part in the shop's reading consultation service guided by deputy manager Harriet Bibby.

During the session Camilla named Elizabeth Jane Howard's Cazalet Chronicles as her absolute favourite book.

She also listed Alexandre Dumas's The Count of Monte Cristo and Amor Towles's A Gentleman in Moscow, which she called just wonderful, along with works by William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. Camilla estimated that her reading consists of 80 per cent fiction and 20 per cent non-fiction. She stated she does not like science fiction.

The Queen wrapped The Renoir Girls by Catherine Ostler in brown paper tied with a blue ribbon bow. She later unveiled a plaque designating one space at the shop the Queen's Room. The visit carried personal significance because Camilla's late father, Major Bruce Shand, had been a customer at Heywood Hill.

After the tour she crossed to Shepherd Market and spoke with local traders.
