Raducanu plans to play Wimbledon despite lower-leg injury

Emma Raducanu said she plans to play Wimbledon while continuing treatment for a lower-leg injury. m. on Monday on Court No. 1 and has worn strapping on her right ankle. The issue began earlier this month during her run at Queen’s, where she reached the final after returning from a long injury lay-off.

She was seen in a protective boot earlier this week and ended a training session with Anna Kalinskaya on Saturday after losing the first four games.

Injury management and outlook Raducanu said she felt tentative during the shortened Saturday session but reported feeling better after practice on Sunday. She stated she will do everything possible with her team in terms of treatment and confirmed her current plan is to play.

She acknowledged that risk is always a factor and noted that certain tournaments, including Wimbledon, prompt players to accept greater physical demands. Raducanu reached her third career final at Queen’s two weeks ago, losing to Donna Vekic. Injury issues have recurred throughout her career.

She described the uncertainty over her participation as difficult and said she is focusing on daily treatment and practice while keeping morale high.
