Rain forecast for south-east Queensland before cooler nights
Coastal showers are expected Monday and Tuesday across south-east Queensland. Clear skies and lower overnight temperatures are forecast from Wednesday.
Coastal rain is forecast for south-east Queensland on Monday and Tuesday, according to the weather bureau. The Gold Coast may receive up to 90 millimetres, Brisbane up to 65 millimetres, and the Sunshine Coast up to 45 millimetres. Widespread rain is also expected in western Queensland.
Senior meteorologist Harry Clark said the rain is unseasonable for this time of year. The falls are expected to extend to the Darling Downs and Granite Belt. Farmers in those areas are dealing with one of the driest starts to a year on record.
Cooler nights forecast from Wednesday Clear skies are expected on Wednesday.
Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop to 4 degrees Celsius in Stanthorpe on Friday. A low of 7 degrees Celsius is forecast for Longreach in the state's west. Beachgoers are advised to watch for a powerful easterly swell and large tidal variations along the coast.
