A soggy weather pattern will continue across the eastern half of the United States on Sunday, bringing wet and cool conditions, according to ABC News. Flood watches remain in effect for the eastern Texas coast and parts of southern Louisiana and Mississippi, including Beaumont, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, through Memorial Day.

One to two inches of additional rain are likely from southern Louisiana to the Carolinas, with isolated areas possibly receiving more than four inches. Some storms may produce gusty winds and small hail.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on Sunday morning due to thunderstorms. Arriving flights faced average delays of 44 minutes, while departing flights experienced delays of up to one hour and 45 minutes. m. ET.

The Northeast is expected to see rain early Monday morning that will gradually clear, leading to drier and milder conditions for Memorial Day. Most of the Midwest will remain mostly dry with warm temperatures. The South will continue to experience scattered rain and thunderstorms into the work week after the holiday.

The West will stay mostly warm and dry, except for the Pacific Northwest, where clouds and showers will bring cooler temperatures beginning Tuesday.
