The Kansas City Royals lost to the Texas Rangers 7-6 on May 30 at Globe Life Field after squandering a two-run lead entering the ninth inning. The defeat extended the Royals' losing streak to five games. Royals closer Lucas Erceg allowed three earned runs on five hits, including one home run, without recording an out in the ninth.
He blew his fifth save of the season and has now blown saves in two consecutive appearances. Over his last three outings, Erceg has given up eight earned runs in two innings and allowed a hit to 13 of the 18 batters he faced. com reported that the performance came in his second straight blown-save appearance.
Catcher Carter Jensen went 2-for-5 and hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning that gave Kansas City a 6-3 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Jensen made a diving catch in foul territory with runners on second and third. Third baseman Maikel Garcia left the game with a right hamstring injury after running the bases in the top of the seventh.
