Rare First Edition of Wuthering Heights Heads to London Auction
A first-edition copy of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel is set for auction at Christie’s on 30 June. The volume remains in its original cloth binding and contains typographical errors from the rushed printing.
EuronewsA rare first-edition copy of Emily Brontë’s “Wuthering Heights” will be auctioned in London on 30 June, the first time such a copy in the publisher’s original cloth binding has reached the block since 1908. Christie’s said only about 250 copies of the first edition were printed in 1847 and that this example has remained in private hands since shortly after publication.

” Christie’s estimates the pair will fetch between £400,000 and £600,000.
The volume retains its original cloth binding, a feature Christie’s described as extremely scarce because most surviving copies were rebound for collectors or libraries.
