Ravens QB Lamar Jackson holds leverage for new contract after Mahomes deal

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has two years remaining on his current contract, worth $104 million. The deal includes a no-trade clause and prevents the team from using the franchise or transition tag after 2027. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes signed a contract extension that added two years and $239.05 million, bringing the total value to $504.75 million over eight years.

The deal includes $237 million in conventional guarantees, with $150 million fully guaranteed at signing.

Jackson's contract situation The Ravens restructured Jackson's contract in February, converting $49.95 million of his 2026 base salary into a signing bonus. This created $39.96 million in 2026 salary cap space but raised his 2027 cap number to $84.34 million.

Jackson, who represents himself, said in late May that he is not seeking a fully guaranteed contract. He also stated his preference for remaining with the organization. "Absolutely. I love the Ravens. I love this organization. I love this city," Jackson said.

Jackson earned a $750,000 workout bonus by participating in the offseason program. Mahomes' extension sets a new benchmark, with $366.75 million in total cash over the first six years. Jackson could target a comparable or higher amount in any new agreement.
