Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero hit a home run in his sixth consecutive game on July 1, becoming the youngest player since at least 1900 to do so, ESPN reported. Caminero connected on a 425-foot drive to left field off Kansas City Royals right-hander Seth Lugo in the first inning of the Rays' 4-0 victory. The blast marked his 24th home run of the 2026 season.
He will turn 23 on Sunday. ESPN reported that Caminero is the first player to homer in six straight games since Boston's Rafael Devers in May 2024. Seattle's Ken Griffey Jr. had been the youngest to reach the mark when he did so at age 23 in 1993.
Caminero hit eight home runs across his past six games, including three in a 13-2 win over Kansas City on the preceding Thursday. The only other Tampa Bay player to homer in six straight games was Carlos Pena in June 2010, according to Sportradar data cited by ESPN.
Other players who homered in five consecutive games before turning 23 include San Francisco's Jack Clark in 1978, Atlanta's Brian McCann in 2006 and Atlanta's Ronald Acuña Jr.
In 2018. Philadelphia's Kyle Schwarber, Detroit's Spencer Torkelson and the Chicago White Sox's Munetaka Murakami each homered in five straight games during the 2026 season.
