Receiver Joins 49ers After Signing Three-Year Contract

A wide receiver signed a three-year, $42.4 million contract with the 49ers during free agency and has stood out at organized team activities. 49ers players have noted the receiver's presence at practices. Tight end George Kittle told reporters on Wednesday that he continues to react with surprise each day.

Barrows of The Athletic, the receiver and quarterback Brock Purdy connected for three to five touchdowns during a red-zone period earlier this week. The pair also linked on a 10-yard out route and a deep sideline pass during Thursday's 7-on-7 drills.

Kittle described the receiver as the first legitimate veteran wide receiver on the roster since 2019. He added that the player is a first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection.

The 6-foot-5, 231-pound receiver has recorded six seasons with 12 or more touchdowns in his 12-year career. He joined Jerry Rice in 2024 as the second player in NFL history with 11 consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. The receiver ranks 21st in all-time receiving yards with 13,052.

Offensive tackle Trent Williams told reporters on Wednesday that the player's accomplishments make it difficult for younger teammates not to admire him.

Friday, former quarterback Baker Mayfield told reporters he was disappointed the receiver did not return. Mayfield said the caliber of player made it difficult to accept the departure but noted the two maintain a strong relationship.
