Reds Defeat Rockies 9-6 as Goodman Hits Three Home Runs

Hunter Goodman connected for three home runs at Coors Field as the Colorado Rockies fell 9-6 to the Cincinnati Reds on July 19, 2026. The All-Star catcher became the first player in franchise history with two three-homer games in one season after previously accomplishing the feat on June 27 against Minnesota.

He hit a solo home run off Hunter Greene in the first inning and a two-run homer off Greene in the sixth before adding a two-run shot off Sam Moll in the eighth. The three homers traveled a combined estimated 1,302 feet and raised his season total to 30.

Goodman had not homered since July 1 and was not in the lineup on July 18. The catcher said the day off helped him reset. "Definitely cool knowing all the guys, the great players that have played here, the Hall of Famers that have played here," Goodman said. He also noted that the ball tends to fly at Coors Field on hot days.

Goodman became the fourth Rockies player with at least two three-homer games in his career, joining Larry Walker, Todd Helton and Carlos González. He reached 30 home runs faster than all but three prior Rockies players, behind Vinny Castilla, Andrés Galarraga and Walker.

Manager Warren Schaeffer said Goodman looked in sync and that his confidence was evident. Tyler Stephenson hit two of Cincinnati's four home runs. The Rockies dropped two of three in the series.
