Reece James Misses England Training but Quansah Cleared and Rice Expected to Play Ahead of Mexico World Cup Tie

Reece James missed England’s final training session in Mexico City on Saturday and remains a doubt for the World Cup last-16 tie against Mexico. The 26-year-old Chelsea right-back has not trained fully with the squad since suffering a hamstring injury in the closing stages of the goalless draw with Ghana.
He was the only player absent from the session and continued to follow an individual programme, the Football Association said.
Thomas Tuchel told reporters that James could be considered for the substitutes bench subject to a final medical opinion. “Reece can maybe make it on the bench, but we need the last assessment from the doctors and medical opinion if this makes sense,” Tuchel said. The match kicks off at 6pm local time on Monday at the Azteca stadium.
Jarrell Quansah has been cleared to play after returning to full training. The defender missed England’s victory over DR Congo with a twisted ankle suffered against Panama. Tuchel confirmed Quansah’s availability, stating: “You saw Jarell train.
Declan Rice trained despite reporting “terrible pain” during the DR Congo match and is expected to be fit. England reported no incidents with supporters upon arrival in Mexico City, with FIFA providing security around the team hotel. Tuchel said the squad had experienced a respectful atmosphere and expected a good night’s sleep before the 01:00 BST kick-off.
