Refillable Tank Printers Can Reduce Ink Costs Over Five Years

In year two, costs shift to paper, possible ink refills and basic maintenance, with ink savings beginning to appear if the initial supply lasts through much of the first year.

By year three, the lower cost per page becomes noticeable for those who print regularly. Year four involves continued ink and paper purchases along with possible cleaning or replacement parts. In year five, overall cost per page is typically lower, particularly for users who print in color and maintain the device properly.

Key specifications include pages per minute, or PPM, which measures print speed. Refillable tank printers generally offer slower speeds than some cartridge models. Cost per page is calculated by dividing the price of an ink bottle by the number of pages it can produce.

For color printing, resolution measured in DPI affects output quality.
