Remedy Entertainment Appoints Jean-Charles Gaudechon as New CEO Following FBC: Firebreak Launch

Remedy Entertainment's new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, took over in March 2026 after the studio's former leader stepped down amid challenges from the 2025 launch of multiplayer shooter FBC: Firebreak. Gaudechon, in a statement tied to the company's latest business review, emphasized doubling down on the studio's unique strengths.

He stated: 'The gaming industry and market have always been dynamic, now more volatile than ever.

As the industry searches for its footing, Remedy will double down on what makes the studio unique: our creative identity, memorable IPs, and commitment to delivering exceptional quality and originality. We are more focused than ever on moving forward with franchise expansion, self-publishing, and commercial discipline to improve our business performance.

The Verge reported that FBC: Firebreak attempted to merge Remedy’s storytelling and worldbuilding with a co-op shooter format.

The launch proved challenging enough to prompt Tero Virtala's departure from the CEO position. Before that release, Remedy had spent years building its capabilities to own the majority of its own properties and to develop multiple projects simultaneously. Looking ahead, Control Resonant is slated for release later in 2026 and remains on track, according to Gaudechon.

Remedy is also developing a pair of Max Payne remakes, which are being published by Rockstar. In addition, the studio is in the proof of concept phase on an unannounced title. Gaudechon highlighted the studio's foundational culture in his remarks.

These developments come as Remedy navigates a volatile gaming market, with Gaudechon reaffirming the company's commitment to originality and quality. The leadership shift follows the Firebreak launch, positioning the studio to advance its franchise expansion and self-publishing efforts.
