Rep. Al Green stated on July 21 that President Trump’s immigration policies are driven by an intentional desire to remove non-white populations from the United States. The Texas Democrat made the comments during an appearance on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, The Washington Times reported.
Green cited the revocation of Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals as a central example, arguing that the move forces vulnerable individuals back into conditions of severe gang violence and extreme poverty. “I don’t think the president has a heart,” Green said. “He simply desires to do whatever he can to push people of color out of the country if he can.
And he’s doing it with the Haitians. He’s doing it with the Latinos, and he’s doing it with the blessing of my Republican colleagues in Congress…” Green also accused Congressional Republicans of enabling the administration’s approach. He added that service members and military personnel are beginning to express concerns about the direction of policy.
The congressman urged the White House to address grievances raised by public protests rather than relying solely on supportive advisors. The Washington Times published the report the same day, noting it was constructed with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
