Rep. Tom Kean Jr. Announces Return to In-Person House Voting Within Weeks and Will Disclose Medical Condition
The New Jersey Republican said he will disclose details of his medical condition upon resuming in-person duties. He has missed every House roll call vote since March 5.
dailycaller.comRep. Tom Kean Jr. said in a June 2 statement that he will transition from virtual to in-person work within a matter of weeks and will then disclose the nature of his medical condition. He added that he is focused on recovery under the advice of healthcare professionals.
Kean cast his last House vote on March 5 and has missed every subsequent roll call. Between January and March he participated in 20 percent of votes. Financial records show he both bought and sold stock during his absence in March.
Kean is running unopposed in New Jersey's GOP primary for the 7th Congressional District on June 3. He has represented the district since 2023. President Trump carried the seat by one percentage point in 2024; former President Joe Biden carried it by four points in 2020.
The nonpartisan Cook Political Report rates the race a Toss Up. " Kean concluded by thanking constituents and colleagues for their "prayers and patience" and acknowledging the need for transparency, saying he looks forward to sharing his experience with the public.
"Every day, I wake up determined to build on the results I have delivered for New Jersey families such as lowering costs, restoring the SALT deduction, funding our law enforcement, helping veterans, standing with Israel, strengthening our economy, and making government work better for the people it serves," the statement said.
"This campaign will offer a clear choice. While Washington Democrats continue pushing an agenda that is too extreme, too expensive, and out of step with New Jersey, I will continue putting our constituents first and working with anyone to get things done," the statement said. "I am optimistic about the road ahead, and ready to earn the support of voters in every corner of this district.
Together, we are going to win this race and continue delivering for New Jersey," the statement stated. " "Once again, I appreciate all of the prayers and patience from my constituents and colleagues," Kean's statement concluded.
