Rescuers save child wearing snorkel from Texas floodwaters

Rescuers pulled a child wearing a snorkel mask from floodwaters near Camp Mystic in the Texas Hill Country. State police officers have rescued more than 40 people from homes, submerged vehicles and vehicles swept off roadways. Heavy downpours across the region turned rivers into fast-moving surges.

Emergency services urged residents to move to higher ground after the torrents washed out more than 100 roads.

Rescue footage Footage shows a Texas Game Warden wading through murky water with the child wearing the snorkeling mask. No immediate reports of deaths or injuries have emerged from the current flooding. Twenty-eight people died when Camp Mystic, a children's summer retreat in Hunt, Texas, was overwhelmed by floods in July 2025.
