UK fintech company Revolut announced that interns and participants in its recent-grads program must work in the office at least three days per week starting in 2027. The company will continue to allow other employees to choose whether to work remotely or in person. Revolut plans to bring on about 500 interns and graduate-program participants in 2027, up from about 300 this year.
Queenie Li, the company's head of talent programs, said the requirement reflects the value of in-person observation for early-career workers. "You don't just learn from your manager telling you what to do. You actually observe how other people conduct their work," Li said.
Business Insider reported that the move occurs as researchers examine whether remote work and AI have reduced entry-level hiring. Peter John Lambert and Yannick Schindler found that the share of entry-level hires fell by as much as 29 percent in recent years across several countries including the US, while hiring for senior positions rose by more than 5 percent.
