Robert Whittaker says he will never fight light heavyweight champion Carlos Ulberg

Robert Whittaker said he will never fight light heavyweight champion Carlos Ulberg, even if he earns a title shot in the division. The former middleweight champion is set to debut at 205 pounds against Nikita Krylov in the featured preliminary bout at UFC 329 in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Whittaker has been training at City Kickboxing in Auckland, the same gym where Ulberg and several other fighters prepare.

Training ties and title stance “I’d never fight anyone I train with, or break bread with,” Whittaker told Fox Sports Australia. “And right at the moment, it’s not even a discussion anyway. I’m only just getting into the light heavyweight division. ” He repeated the position during an appearance on Michael Bisping’s YouTube channel.

“No,” Whittaker said when asked if he would ever fight Ulberg.
