Rod Stewart paused his concert Friday night at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater in West Valley City, Utah, to inhale oxygen from a tank after nearly fainting. The 81-year-old singer gripped surfaces for support while performing before a crew member brought the tank and placed the mask over his nose and mouth, video shared by TMZ showed.
The crowd applauded and cheered as Stewart used the oxygen.
“The show must go on,” Stewart said once he recovered. The reason for the oxygen break was not immediately clear, though the venue sits at 4,300 feet above sea level. Stewart is touring the U.S. on his One Last Time tour.
His next scheduled performance is July 31 at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York. He recently canceled a show in San Diego due to laryngitis and performed June 8 at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. TMZ was the first to report the incident.
