Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano Headline MVP MMA 1 Fight Card

Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano will return to MMA this weekend after long absences to headline the first MVP MMA fight card. The bout is scheduled for Saturday, May 16. The event is promoted by Jake Paul. Also featured are matchups between Nate Diaz and Mike Perry, Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins, and Junior dos Santos and Robelis Despaigne.

The main card, which includes the Rousey versus Carano bout, will stream on Netflix. The preliminary card will stream on Tudum and the MVP YouTube page.

Rousey defended the UFC title against Liz Carmouche by armbar at UFC 157 in 2013. She went on to defeat Miesha Tate by armbar, Sara McMann by TKO, Alexis Davis by KO, Cat Zingano by armbar and Beth Correia by KO. Rousey was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018 as the first female inductee.

She later competed in WWE, where she won the Raw Women’s Championship, the SmackDown Women’s Championship and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Carano began her MMA career in 2006 and went 7-0 with wins over fighters including Julie Kedzie and Tonya Evinger.

In 2009 she fought Cris Cyborg for the inaugural Strikeforce women’s featherweight title and lost by TKO at 4:59 of the first round. Carano then shifted her focus to acting, appearing in several projects including The Mandalorian. The company said it will have more information on the Rousey versus Carano fight card as fight night nears.
