Ronnie O'Sullivan Wins Opening World Snooker Championship Match and Rejects Tax Motives for Dubai Move

Ronnie O'Sullivan defeated He Guoqiang 10-2 in his opening match at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield. Prior to the current World Championship at the Crucible, O'Sullivan had competed in just a single tournament in the UK. He skipped the pre-tournament Champions' Dinner and Media Day. Despite the limited recent play in the country, he showed no rust in dispatching his opponent efficiently.

O'Sullivan reflected on the solitary demands of snooker. "Snooker, you just have to do it all by yourself," he stated. He expressed a wish for the flexibility of team sports, saying, "I wish I was a footballer or playing in the NFL or something where you can ask the boss if I could have a month off.

" He described the rigors of his career, noting, "But my whole career has been like, you've got to be here this time, play that person. " O'Sullivan, who has faced long-time rivals like Higgins over three decades at the Crucible, acknowledged the psychological toll of these expectations.
