Rookie Forwards Score 28 and 15 Points in Summer League Openers

Darryn Peterson scored 28 points and Cameron Boozer added 15 points in their first NBA summer league games Saturday. Peterson made 11 of 21 shots in 27 minutes during the Utah Jazz's 103-102 overtime victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Both players scored on their first possessions.

Peterson drove past a second-year forward for a layup. Boozer caught a pass in the paint, returned it on a pick-and-roll, and finished with a two-hand dunk.

"It felt comfortable," Boozer said. "Obviously, it's still an adjustment because going to a whole new team, whole new system, you got one week of practice before playing. " Peterson noted the adjustment to a new system and said he had been preparing since his college season ended.

He also said the eight turnovers he committed were too many. Jazz coach Will Hardy said Peterson handled the expectations well but still has areas to improve.
