Rookies post strong scoring in summer league openers

Summer league games began with several rookies recording double-digit scoring totals in their first appearances. One player scored 27 points while creating shots off the dribble. Another posted 24 points after earlier games of 28 and 25 points.

A 6-9 forward selected 23rd overall recorded 13 points and six rebounds while finishing a game-high plus-19. The same player competed against a lineup that included three recent first-round selections. An undrafted 6-7 forward scored a game-high 34 points, including six three-pointers, in a 91-70 victory.

A forward projected as a high-volume scorer also contributed 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game across three outings. Another player recorded 35 points with seven three-pointers, three blocks, and two steals in a single game.

Multiple players are projected to receive significant minutes on teams expected to rely on them immediately. Observers stated that at least five rookies appear positioned to contend for Rookie of the Year honors. Summer league performances are expected to inform roster and contract decisions ahead of training camp.
