McIlroy reflected on the emotional significance of achieving the career Grand Slam, noting it as a feat that made him the sixth golfer in history to capture all four major championships. He stated that completing the Grand Slam was incredibly emotional, something he had chased for a long time, with added meaning due to prior near misses, setbacks, and questions.
