Rosamund Pike Describes Director Discussions Before Nude Scenes in Two Projects
Rosamund Pike said directors held pre-scene meetings before she appeared nude in a 2003 stage play and a 2018 film. She stated the scenes did not benefit her professionally.
deadline.comRosamund Pike said directors held separate discussions with her before she appeared nude in two projects. She described the conversations as efforts by the directors to address their own concerns while offering her the roles. Pike recalled the meetings ahead of the 2003 stage play Hitchcock Blonde.
She said director Terry Johnson took her to lunch at an Italian restaurant and asked whether she understood the implications of the nude scene. Pike stated that a similar conversation occurred before the 2018 film A Private War. She said director Matthew Heineman told her the scene would show the character's vulnerability and that the film would benefit from it.
Pike said she understood both requests but concluded the scenes served the directors' projects rather than her own interests. She added that appearing nude never benefits the woman involved. Pike is currently appearing in the West End play Inter Alia and will next be seen in the Netflix film Ladies First.
