Rosie O'Donnell said President Donald Trump will not live through 2028 during an appearance on CNN's The Lead with Jake Tapper on Friday. She stated that his "demise is visible" and attributed recent verbal mistakes to dementia. O'Donnell returned to the United States from Ireland to promote her one-woman show Common Knowledge, which premieres off-Broadway on July 22.
She moved to Ireland in 2025 after Trump was reelected. In a TikTok video, O'Donnell said she would consider returning when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights in America. Tapper asked whether that meant after Trump leaves office in January 2029 or after the 2028 election.
"Well, I don't think, Jake, that he is going to survive that long," O'Donnell said. She added that medical opinions show his condition is apparent to anyone not willfully blind. O'Donnell cited two examples from a NATO summit press conference in Ankara, Turkey.
"He makes the kind of mistakes that you would forgive at Thanksgiving dinner, but you would never let grandpa cut the turkey," O'Donnell said. She described the incidents as obvious signs of dementia taking over.
