stated that he had sex with a 16-year-old individual when he was 30 years old. He noted that the age of consent in the United Kingdom is 16. Brand made these statements during an appearance on "The Megyn Kelly Show" on April 23, 2026. Brand described himself at the time as an immature 30-year-old and a different person from who he is now.
He acknowledged a power imbalance in the encounter. Brand stated that his sexual conduct in the past was selfish and lacked consideration for others.
emphasized that consent is important. He stated that he had consensual sex with many women, but recognized that fame and addiction provided opportunities for such encounters, leading to hedonistic and exploitative behavior. Brand described these actions as wrong and in need of atonement.
“I think it is exploitative. I recognize that my sexual conduct in the past was selfish and I did not apply enough consideration, barely any, I suppose, really, to how that sex was affecting other people.”
Brand further explained that fame and charisma allowed him to direct consent. He stated that this was not right and represented selfishness.
Allegations Brand is scheduled to stand trial on October 12, 2026, on allegations of rape and sexual assault. Four women have accused him of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse in incidents alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2005. Brand opposed the idea that these allegations involve overridden consent and asserted that consent was directed in his encounters.
Brand attended a plea and trial preparation hearing at Southwark Crown Court in London on February 24, 2026. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
