Wilson began his professional career after the Seattle Seahawks selected him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He spent his first ten seasons with Seattle and helped the team win the Super Bowl following the 2013 season. He later played two seasons with the Denver Broncos and one season each with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants.

Across his career he recorded 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.

Wilson will appear on CBS Sports' "The NFL Today." In his announcement he stated he is "so blessed to continue doing what I love most — being around the greatest game in the world." The move ends his on-field career and begins a new role in network television coverage of the league.
