Russia's foreign minister calls for agreement reflecting all parties' interests in U.S.-Iran conflict

Russia's foreign minister stated that any agreement ending the U.S.-Iran conflict must reflect the interests of all parties, not only the warring sides. The remarks were issued as fresh explosions were reported near Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant and the nearby city of Choghadak.

Regional military responses Israel's defence minister said the military is prepared to strike Iran again with greater force if needed and to regain air superiority. The Israeli army chief reported that hundreds of aircraft remain on immediate standby and tens of thousands of personnel are supporting operational readiness while monitoring developments in Iran and Lebanon.

International statements Britain's Andy Burnham said Labour's initial response to Israel's actions in Gaza did not get it right and apologized for the party's stance. Burnham added that the United Kingdom had been too slow to call for a ceasefire and pledged to consider further sanctions on those involved in violence in Gaza along with measures to ban trade in goods from illegal Israeli settlements.

France joined calls for the release of Dr Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, who was detained by Israel on December 27, 2024. A French Foreign Ministry spokesman cited extremely worrying information about Abu Safia's health and urged his release on humanitarian grounds.

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon said the security situation in southern Lebanon remains fragile despite a decrease in violence since late June.
