Russia conducted a drone attack on the Black Sea port of Odesa in Ukraine overnight on Monday, according to Ukrainian officials. The strike killed a 30-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter, as well as another woman. Oleh Kiper, the Odesa regional governor, reported the casualties via the Telegram app.
The attack injured 16 people, including a pregnant woman and two small children, Kiper said. Residential buildings, energy infrastructure, and a kindergarten sustained damage. Energy company DTEK stated that about 16,700 households in several Odesa districts were left without electricity due to the extensive damage, with repairs expected to take time.

The incident occurred as the war between Russia and Ukraine entered its fifth year. Odesa serves as a key logistics hub in southern Ukraine and the country's largest port, managing the majority of Ukrainian grain and other maritime exports. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on social media platform X that Russia launched 140 drones at Ukraine during the overnight attacks, targeting energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions.
Zelenskyy noted that over the past week, Russia used more than 2,800 attack drones, nearly 1,350 guided aerial bombs, and over 40 missiles of various types. He reiterated calls for additional air defense support. The attack highlights ongoing strikes on civilian and critical infrastructure in the region, affecting residents, energy supply, and export operations.
