Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Kill 10 in Ukraine, Injure Over 80

Russian forces launched 12 missiles, including six ballistic missiles, and 121 drones across Ukraine in an overnight attack that killed at least 10 people and injured more than 80 others. The Ukrainian Airforce said air defenses shot down two guided missiles and 111 drones.

Officials released images of a destroyed passenger bus and car, and warned residents to stay in shelters over fears of follow-up strikes.

In the Donetsk region, a 67-year-old man died when three FAB-250 guided aerial bombs struck Sloviansk, damaging at least 15 private homes and injuring three others. Apartment buildings, government facilities and vehicles were also hit. In Kyiv, ballistic missiles injured 11 people, including an 11-year-old boy.

Officials said the capital sustained damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.

Trump announced at a July 8 NATO Summit that the United States will grant Ukraine a license to produce Patriot interceptor missiles domestically. The decision reverses prior U.S. policy that supplied interceptors but barred local manufacturing. Former President Biden had rejected similar requests even as stockpiles ran low.

The change allows Ukraine to address shortages that have limited its ability to intercept Russian strikes on the capital.

Trump said his relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has improved since a February 2025 Oval Office meeting that ended in a shouting match involving Vice President JD Vance. Zelensky and at least 25 world leaders are scheduled to meet in Paris on Monday for a Coalition of the Willing summit focused on renewing ceasefire efforts and finalizing security guarantees.

NATO chief Mark Rutte and the U.S. representative are expected to attend.
